The people in Egypt used their
natural environment as a prime factor in their building, designs, and motifs.
The Nile River let transportation of building materials like timber come
available as well as trade and communication. Mud, plaster, wood, and stone
were also materials used from the land. Palms, papyrus flowers and lotus blossoms
were all used in interior motifs reflecting the natural landscape. The warm climate here also allowed for outdoor
spaces and distinct window placement. Hypostyle roofs were used as well which
is a roof supported by columns. The plant life designs were added to these
columns.

Current Application
Your image of current application of the Egyptian ancient civilization is quite beautiful. I would have never imagine to see it so nicely re-represented in a more modern twist. Pattern and colors within artwork and design became more important during this time, so the continuation of the patterns with simultaneous artwork actually seems to flow not to bad in the modern interpretation. I think it is all about the color choice.. a version of this in neons would be an eye sore! :-)
